This article is about a girl in 8th grade who sent a naked picture to a guy that she liked. They soon after broke up and he sent it to one of the girls "friends". The girl he sent it to sent it to everyone in her mailbox with a nasty text attached. The people she sent it to, sent it to others and so on and so forth, until the school caught wind of the situation. The boy said he never ment it to get this out of hand and never ment for the girl to get this hurt by it.

Junkyard Pilates

I liked how simple the story was. They kept the camera pretty steady the whole time. Its one of those things you dont really think would happen in a junk yard with middle aged men of all places. Like the one man said, "Pilates is for women". This video kind of proves him wrong in a sense.

Man and Goose form odd couple

http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/assignment_america/main500617.shtml
This article is about a man who visits a park in California and a goose that he named Maria follows him like a pet. She doesn't let any other animal come near him or any other goose for that matter. She also has been spotted following other male humans such as the men in the band OK GO. She made an appearance in one of their videos that was filmed there. The man that she follows says she would probably come home with him if she could but he isn't ready for a bird living buddy.

In the 2010 movie the Social Network
a college student by the name of Mark
Zuckerberg creates a social frenzy by
inventing Facebook, a network initially
intended for college students to share
pictures, personalities, relationships, and
statuses amongst fellow peers. Facebook
soon grew going from college to college,
soon down to high school and down to
some middle schools. But what many of
us don’t think to count is the growing
number of parents joining this social
phenomenon.

(BROOKE)
“Yeah, my parents and step parents all have Facebooks.”

(ZAC)
“Yes, both, and my grandparents.”

                                [Narration]
But what do we think is the reasoning
for joining now?

(BROOKE)
“To honestly, watch their kids, that’s why my mom and dad got them.”

(ZAC)
“To find friends from high school and to keep track of their kids.”

                                  [Narration]
So why are so many adults joining Facebook?
Is it to spy on their kids or find fellow high
school friends? Or is it for other reasons teens don’t see?

(PARENT #1)
I got a Facebook because some of my co-workers and extended family have them.
(PARENT #2)
I got one because its "cool"
(PARENT #1)
I do sometimes spy on my kids, but not that often.

(PARENT #2)
My kids wont even let me friend them!

                        [Narration]
Now that Facebook has been spreading
amongst an older age group, will they
become the dominate population on this
social network?

(BROOKE)
“No because adults don’t know how to deal with technology.”

(ZAC)
“No because some adults will never get into it, I think people are getting them just because they have kids on it.”

(PARENT #1)
They might, Im not sure though.

(PARENT #2)
I think they already do!

Will Your Teen Give In to Peer Pressure?

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/MindMoodNews/researchers-brains-tumultuous-preteens/story?id=13094403

This article is about a doctor that has a 14 year old daughter and wanted to know how to tell which kids give into peer pressure. He didnt really come up with much other than he found out that in a bigger group kids will be more willing to give into peer pressure. He also found that the part of the brain that controls emotion also controls the part that includes risk taking. In the end of the article he basicly said that there is no solid evidence to determine which kids will fall into peer pressure and which wont.

Snooki: 'Jersey Shore' is 'like prison with cameras'

This article is about one of the cast members of Jersey Shore, Snooki complaining about the environment of the show. She says that they have no connection to the outside world i.e. cell phones, computer, tv, radio etc. She goes on to say "If someone died, we'd have no way of knowing." I think its sad that for 2 months they are stuck in a house with other people and no connection to the outside world, I know that it would drive me crazy.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris Set Wedding Date

http://www.popeater.com/2011/02/24/hugh-hefner-crystal-harris-wedding-date/

This article is pretty much about how the 24 year old Crystal Harris is getting married to the 84 year old Hugh Hefner. They apparently have set the date for June 18th 2011. When one of his ex girlfriends was asked if she would be attending she said no and also went on to say that she does not think that Crystal is the right match for Hugh and that she thinks that she is too young to settle down. I think its obvious what all of those girls are after and its not his love.

Wisconsin Power Play

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/21/opinion/21krugman.html?ref=todayspaper

The article talks about how Paul Ryan made a remark about "Its like Cario has moved to Madison" in regaurds to Scott Walker. Scott Walker is a republican that Ryan has compaired to Hosni Mubarak. I do kind of agree with what Paul is saying, I believe many republican candiates have been trying to totally change the way that America works with giving great benefits to the rich and leaving the poor to die pretty much. I get that not ALL less fortunate people deserve money to be thrown at them, because many of those people did it to themselves, but I do believe those people should be given the chance to turn their lifes around instead of hanging them out to dry. Just because we have a democrat in office doesnt mean that all we need is a republican to bail us out, lets not forget who really got america into this trouble in the first place.

Rihanna Sued: David LaChapelle Alleges 'S&M' Video Steals From His Art

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/15/rihanna-sued-david-lachapelle-sm_n_823308.html?ir=Arts

Apparently Rihanna, in her newest music video took pictures from the famous photographer David LaChapelle and made them into scenes. He says that she not only did it one time but in many different scenes. Im personally so tired of seeing Rihannas' drama in the news. I think she is a wannabe Lady Gaga. She wants to set herself apart from everyone but isn't original enough to think of her own ideas, so she takes other peoples.

3 die after separate Wisconsin snowmobile crashes

http://www.kare11.com/news/article/906914/14/3-die-after-separate-Wisconsin-snowmobile-crashes

I think its so weird how 3 people that didnt even know each other died due to snowmobiles. One was a 17-year-old girl who crashed on a trail, the other was a 69 year-old man and the third was a male who was thrown from the snowmobile and later died that day from injuries. That would suck to be having a good time with your friends snowmobiling then you mess up and die. I also think its weird how all of the three happened in Wisconson all around the same time.

St. Louis Park teen to use insanity defense in Iowa killings

http://www.startribune.com/local/west/115678529.html

I think this teenager is using the "insanity" defence as just that, a defense. I do not think he is at all insane, he is just scarred because he killed two inocent people in an attempt to rob a convience store. He knew going into that he was going to kill people or else he wouldn't have braught a loaded gun. He is just pleading insanity because he is being charged with adult murder and robbery which will give him a super long sentence. People like that need to be locked up alone for as long as their life holds out, they should be able to see the light of day.

Catfish Final Review

Do we really know the people we meet online? Millions of people use online sites such as Facebook to connect with others around the world, but how do we know who’s telling the truth? The movie catfish captures 3 young men trying to find the “people” they have been talking to for over 9 months on Facebook. These 3 men figure out that the multiple women they have been talking to online, maybe aren’t exactly who they say they are. Through many twists and turns Nev and his two friends get down to the bottom of this 9 month lie.
The documentary named “Catfish” was created by the main character, Nev’s friends Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.  These three men also account for most of the cast seeing as they are the main characters throughout most of the movie. In late 2007 Henry and Ariel decided to film Ariel’s brother Nev and his online friendship with a family over Facebook, they had no idea the drama that would unfold before them.  “Catfish” came out in 2010 and grossed over $3,000,000 at the box office.
Nev is a well known photographer who lives in New York City. After one of his ballet pictures is published in the news paper he receives a package with a painting of that same picture, created by an 8 year old girl named Abby. Nev and Abby start a friendship over Facebook and soon Abby’s mom Angela and sister Meghan also friend Nev. Nev is touched by Abby's paintings, and begins to identify with the whole family. He learns of school plans, pie baking, Sunday family breakfast, and the horse farm that Abby's 19 year old sister, Megan, is buying. Nev and Meghan start conversing on the phone and soon their friendship turns into a long distance romance. When Nev starts finding flaws in the families’ stories he starts to grow questionable about what is true and what isn’t. Nev and his two friends decide to make a visit to Meghan’s farm and the family’s house, upon arrival at the farm they notice no one named Meghan even lives there. They then go to the family house the next morning and realize the family living there isn’t exactly what they expected.
I like the idea of the movie “Catfish,” I think its interesting how one social network could lead to so many friendships, which can lead to so many lies. I think the moral of this documentary is that you never really know who you are meeting online; people can lie about anything and get away with it. Angela came up with her own network of people; she created her own cyber web of lies. Nev found himself fooled by all of her fake stories and realized the “girl of his dreams” was a 40 year old women with kids and a husband.
I liked this movie because it shows everyone that Facebook isn’t “real life,” it’s a cyber world where anyone anywhere can stretch the truth. I didn’t like the movie because it gave Angela fame, which in my opinion she didn’t need. I would defiantly recommend this movie to adults and teenagers around our age. We are so attached to Facebook; I think people should see that their “friends” may not really be your friends. Everyone should know that it’s just as easy to lie on the internet as it is to tell the truth.

Catfish Post #3

Angela comes out with her lies and tells Nev that the "Meghan" in the picture was just pictures of a family friend and Meghans other friends on facebook were also Angela. Angela also tells Nev that her daughter Meghan is at a rehab facility for drinking. When Nev and his friends first came to their house Angela told them that she has cancer. In the end Nev finds out that there is no Meghan and she didn't even have cancer.

Catfish Post #2

Nev and his friends found out that the mom made all of the people that Nev has been in communication with for the past 9 months. They also find out that Abby has not even been the one painting all the pictures, the mom has. Abbys mom made a whole web of lies about the family.

Catfish Post #1

If I were Nev and I found out that this whole "family" was lying about pretty much everything they were saying I would want to get to the bottom of it. I would research everything they were telling me, like what Nev was starting to do. If the facts were still not adding up I would go to her house and find out who they really are and why they are making so many lies about their lives. Even though its just facebook I wouldnt want to be lied to over and over again. I know a lot of people stretch the truth, but I didnt realize there are people who actually make up their whole life story.
